Group Classes - Register Now

Step One

Please note to register for any program at NCWC, each individual complete the NCWC General Registration. If you have already done this for another NCWC program, you can skip to Step 2.

Step Two

Learn to Skate (LTS) 3 year olds: Equivalent to Snowplow Sam levels 1-2. For our littlest skaters, the 3 year olds will grow from sitting on the ice to standing and skating in no time. This class meets 2 times a week.

Wednesday, 3:15-3:45 pm & Saturday, 9:15-9:45 am

LTS 1 (ages 4 and up): Equivalent to Snowplow 1-2 and Basic 1. Skaters will learn the fundamentals of skating through a chronological skill curriculum, games and skating aids. This class meets 2 times a week.

Thursday, 4:00-4:30 pm & Saturday, 8:45 - 9:15 am

LTS 2: Snowplow 3-4 and Basic 1. Skaters are building on the fundamentals and will gain more comfort and confidence on the ice through instruction and games. This class meets 3 times a week.

Monday, 4:10-4:40 pm, Wednesday, 3:45-4:15 pm & Thursday, 4:30-5:00 pm

LTS 3: Basic skills are developed with greater focus on backward skating and turns. Skaters wishing to move up to either Hockey or Figure Skating should complete the skills taught through Basic 2. This class meets 3 times a week.

Monday, 4:40-5:10 pm, Thursday, 5:00-5:30 pm

& Saturday, 9:45-10:15 am

Hockey Skating Skills: (Pre-requisite: Basic 2 or 1 year MDP) Power Skating 2-5. Early skaters moving into hockey or looking to develop their skating skills will learn more advanced/hockey specific skills (i.e. forward stride, turns, pivots, direction change, stops/starts). Fun is our objective! Rising hockey players will be learning without knowing it. Full gear encouraged. Skaters should have certified helmet with cage, shin pads and elbow pads.

Wednesday, 4:15-4:45 pm

Basics (formerly Intermediate): Basic 3 & some Basic 4 - This class is open to those interested in hockey or figure skating and those interested in developing their basic skating.

Monday, 5:20-6:05 pm, Wednesday, 4:55-5:40 pm,

& Thursday, 7:00-7:45 am

Flyers (formerly Preliminary): Some Basic 4 & 5 - Designed for skaters wishing to learn more figure skating specific skills: turns, spins, beginning jumps. Fundamental choreography and skating to music are also taught at these levels.

Monday, 6:05-6:50 pm, Wednesday, 4:55-5:40 pm

& Saturday, 8:00-8:45 am


Explorers (formerly Junior): Basic 6, most of PreFree Skate. Skills at the Junior level become more advanced and set skaters up for learning more challenging turns, spins and jumps. Skaters will develop stronger edges and power while also learning many of the “fun” tricks commonly seen in figure skating.

& Sunday, 11:10-12:00 pm

Challengers (formerly Senior): Remaining PreFree Skate & FreeSkate 1, some FS 2 Skaters who pass the all Basic levels and the Pre FreeSkate receive the Keever Award at the end of year banquet. The skills acquired at the Basic level prepare skaters for moving up to the Free Skate levels where the curriculum takes skaters to a new level.

Monday, 7:00-7:45 pm, Wednesday, 5:40-6:25 pm

& Sunday, 11:10-12:00 pm

Masters/Advance Masters: Free Skate 2 and up, Bridge Program, USFS track. This class is open to skaters who are ready to tackle more difficult jumps and spins and advanced edges and turns. This class will bridge together the core fundamentals and the US Figure Skating testing track. Skaters will also be introduced to Ice Dance and Moves in the Field. Advanced Masters are working on USFS tests, this is the highest level class the NCWC offers.

Synchronized Skating - “Snow Angels”: Open to skater who have passed Basic 5 and wish to skate on a team. Skaters will learn to skate in unison while forming patterns and connections across the ice as well as friendships to last for years to come.

Adult Skating Skills: This class tailored to adults of all levels meets weekly on Tuesday at 9:15. Drop-ins are welcome.

Power 30: Adult class meets 1-2 times a month based on schedule below. Sign up in advance, preferably 24 hours prior, although drop-ins are welcome. This class was created out of the growing interest for an on-ice power skating type class geared toward adults. Participants must be comfortable on the ice skating forward, backward, stopping and turning. Think spin class on ice!

Tuesdays: 10:00-10:30 am, Group will meet on Nov. 12, 26, Dec. 10, Jan. 7, 21, Feb. 11, 25

Fridays: 8:00-8:30 am, Group will meet on 11/8, 12/6, 1/3, 2/7

Power Fundamentals: Geared toward beginning Mites (B and C levels) and qualifying MDP Select players may be eligible with approval and pending capacity. This class is for boy and girl 8U players on Mite Bs, Mite Cs and 8U Ice Cat players. Our Power Skating classes offer skaters the tools to be faster, stronger, and more agile. Stops/starts, attack and defensive skating skills, transitions, and some player specific needs are all developed throughout the season.

Power 1:  This class is for boy and girl 8U Travel Mite A1, A levels players with previous Power Skating experience. Power Skating classes offer skaters the tools to be faster, stronger, and more agile. Stops/starts, attack and defensive skating skills, transitions, and some player specific needs are all developed throughout the season.

Wednesday, 7:00-7:45 am

Power 2:  Open to boy and girl 10U Squirt travel hockey players. Power Skating classes offer skaters the tools to be faster, stronger, and more agile. Stops/starts, attack and defensive skating skills, transitions, and some player specific needs are all developed throughout the season. 

Monday, 7:00-7:45 am

Power 3: This class is open to all boy and girl 12U travel hockey players. The class utilizes the entire ice surface to further develop stride mechanics and skating techniques presented in Power Hockey Skating 2.
